2021 La Maschera, Pinot Gris, From Ngarrindjeri + Bungandidj Country, Wrattonbully, SA
This pinot gris is grown in the limestone rich soils of, you guessed it, Limestone Coast. The flavour packed grapes are fermented in oak, rather than stainless, and stirred on lees, which develops the texture and whole mouth feel of the wine. Instead of the sharp, limey flavours, your mouth is filled with a lemon pith, and soft vegetal flavours. The perfect wine to be enjoyed with a roast vege salad or even a curry.
2021 Bleasdale, Cabernet Franc, From Ngarrindjeri Country, Langhorne Creek, SA
This cabernet franc is a bright and chirpy affair. Open top, concrete ferments bubble with excitedness, until placed into stainless then old oak for a stint. The result sees an early bottler ready to be sprung open as soon as it hits spring, which happens to be this week. So maybe chill it, maybe not, but just enjoy the bright red fruit, the supple tannin, the curiosity from the whole berry fermentation.
