2020 Lobethal Road, Chardonnay, From Peramangk Country, Adelaide Hills, SA
This chardonnay comes from grapes grown at 475mts above sea level, which, for Australia, is pretty high. The north-easterly aspect of the vines ensures enough sun to ripen gently. The quartz and iron stone feeding the roots gives sparkling minerality and vibrance to each nose and mouthful, while the prominent stone fruit characters over the tongue are boosted by the whole bunch texture. All in all, a wine which punches far above its weight for quality and value, a discovery which TWD is proud to present to you.
2020 Russell & Suitor, ‘Son of Bull’ Pinot Noir, From Tyerrernotepanner Country, Pipers River, TAS
This pinot will simply delight you. It’s pretty on the nose, but with an underlying earthiness which, while subtle, gives you something to look forward to when you drink it. At first sip, it’s the red fruit, raspberry and under ripe plum which strike you directly, but following on from that are the slightly darker elements. The soft spice, the hint of earthiness. There’s a cache of flavours, discreet and beguiling, and that’s the beauty of pinot. She won’t give her heart away easily, only to those who take the time to really get to know her. And when you do, she’ll be yours forever.
