2018 Empirica, Fiore del Campo, Riesling / Pinot Gris / Gewurztraminer, From Noongar Country, Frankland River, WA
This Alsatian blend from Castelli is so full of beautiful aromas, such as lychee, peach and roses. And when you take that first sip, the flavours are only enhanced with the subtle peach and prominent pears. A delightful dance of different grapes offering something altogether perfect for that upcoming picnic.
2019 Santuario, Malbec, From Mendoza, Argentina
Santuario means ‘sanctuary’ and you can rest assured your mouth will be in a good place after drinking this. There’s no oak used in the vinification process, so it’s a brighter style, better suited to a sunny afternoon, rather than in front of the fire. It still offers a decent whack of fruit and spice, but it tantalises and queries your tongue, rather than drowning it. Definitely Maradona in his early playing days, rather than in his retirement.
