Te Quiero, 2019 White Blend + 2018 Red Blend
From Tierra de Castella, Spain
Te Quiero is a joint collaboration between a bunch of growers and an English Master of Wine called Giles Cooke who have bonded over a love of traditional Spanish varietals. Together they’ve created a duo of wines aptly named “I love you”, both field blends combining Spain’s favourite grapes and some of the not so known.
The white consists of small parcels of Airén, Verdejo, Moscatel, Albillo and Malvasia. Airen is the most harvested of any white grape in the world, with Albillo being one of the least. The flavours of this wine are diverse and captivating with a robust, pithy texture and good acid length.
The Red Blend is derived from Tempranillo, Syrah and Bobal, with Bobal an indigenous varietal, grown as a bush vine which lays almost flat along the ground to preserve water. The wine simply bounces out of the glass with bright and distinctive red berry and subtle spice. It’s bright, yet dignified and perfect for the ‘anytime wine’ you so desperately need.
