2016 Gestalt ‘Backlight’, Mataro/ Grenache, From Ngadjuri Country, Barossa Valley, SA
Backlight is a blend of Mataro from Stockwell, and Grenache from Williamstown in the Barossa Valley. The name being a play on the flavour profile of the two varieties. The robust, dense, blue fruited Mataro being balanced by the pretty, red fruited refreshingness of Grenache. As put by the creators themselves, because they would know - ‘fiendishly moreish’.
