2019 Patritti, Vermentino, From Peramangk Country, Adelaide Hills, SA
This wine is uniquely Australian, but with a serious nod to the mother ship of Sardinia. There’re all the hallmarks of Italy, with aromas of white flowers and citrus, but it’s the texture, from time on lees and the subtle peach and green pear flavours which define the wine as Aussie. Start thinking of summer and this wine will be at the top of the list.
2018 Seven Hill, ‘Inigo’ Merlot, From Ngadjuri Country, Clare Valley
This merlot is up there as some of the best from Australia with a violet perfume and silkiness over the tongue. Flavours such as black cherry, plum and ever so gentle spice from the new and old American and French oak mean this wine is as exalted as the faith which spawned it.
